Executive Director
Stephanie Champlin joined Fairhaven Foundation, now Abilities Unite Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, as Executive Director in May of 2021. Prior to joining the Foundation she served as Director of Community Relations and Practice Development for 15 years at Eye Care Associates. Stephanie is a passionate advocate for individuals with developmental disabilities. She has used her life experience and skills in advocacy for many organizations working with individuals with developmental disabilities over the last 19 years.
Stephanie was selected as a parent representative for the Statewide Review of Early Intervention Services in 2009 and at the same time began serving on the Family and Children First Council and Early Childhood Coordinating Committee in Columbiana County. She served on the Board of Directors for the Down Syndrome Association of the Valley from 2007-2008 and brought the Buddy Walk to the Mahoning Valley during that time.
Her advocacy work, in collaboration with Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities, included a program at Salem City Schools that aimed to increase inclusion, acceptance and respect of individuals with disabilities. Stephanie also served on the board of directors for Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities as an appointment of the Columbiana County Commissioners.
In the 4 years Stephanie has been with Abilities Unite Foundation, she has diversified the Board of Directors to ensure we have input from a variety of areas within the community, including mental health, children's services, family supports, finance, medical, entertainment, communications, and lived experience. This has greatly increased our ability to partner with organizations in the community to further our mission.

Operations Manager
Kristen joined the Abilities Unite team in September 2025, but has over 20 years of marketing and communications experience in the Mahoning Valley, mostly in the nonprofit arena. Her background includes managing and implementing strategy and tasks for programs, fundraisers, and special events, community relations, media relations, grant writing, and creative services. She will assist the executive director with day-to-day operations of the foundation, foster existing relationships and develop new ones to promote the expansion into the tri-county area, and seek new funding opportunities that allow the foundation to continue hosting inclusive community events and meaningfully contribute towards solutions for the individuals we serve. Kristen said, “I want to become an active and constructive member of the team, working collaboratively to achieve our shared purpose."
Kristen’s hobbies include being a mom taxi to her two incredibly active kids and cheering them on in all they do, attending live sporting events, searching Pinterest, and reading psychological thrillers. Kristen lives in Howland with her husband, Jordan, children, Jensen and Sullivan, and rescue dog, Maple.
