Abilities Unite Soccer:

Salem Community Center Circle Fieldhouse

1098 N. Ellsworth Ave, Salem, OH 44460

We are pleased to announce Abilities Unite Soccer, a new program in collaboration with the Salem Community Center and the US Youth Soccer organization.  Abilities Unite Soccer is a community-based soccer program that is designed to meet the needs of children and adults with developmental disabilities. The goals of the program are to improve the overall fitness, self-esteem, and social skills of each athlete. Teams are comprised based on ability and/or age, to further promote participation and development.

Each group will have a trained coach, assistant coach, and buddies to support athletes. During the registration process we encourage you to share as much information as possible about your athlete. You can also request 1:1 buddy support during the registration process. Parents and direct support professionals are able to volunteer as a buddy, but please note, this entails running on the field with your athlete for all eight (8) sessions. Although some soccer equipment is required (shin guards, soccer socks, water bottle), you will not need to bring your own soccer ball. Seating is also available for parents and direct support professionals to watch.

The program will be held on Tuesday evenings at the Salem Community Center Circle Fieldhouse from October 27th to December 15th. Children ages 5 - 12 will play from 6 - 7 PM. Teens and adults will play from 7 - 8 PM. Each session will include soccer fundamentals, drills, games, fun, and socialization. Athletes will play on half of a standard soccer field to allow for a more inclusive experience for all.
